April 7, 2016 - Dev Q&A - Answers Part 1
« on: April 07, 2016, 06:27:39 PM »
Thank you to everyone who submitted Questions and Voted up the ones they wanted Answered in our 17th Anniversary Dev Q&A! We have received answers to 17 of the Top Questions submitted.

In Part 1 today, you will find the Questions and Answers to Questions #17 to #11, as well as a few Questions that were Answered during the time it took us to take Questions and Submit them to Daybreak.

17: Where does EQ see themselves in five and ten years?
Our team is passionate about keeping EverQuest going for our fans. This means regular patches as we continue to fix bugs and balance content, and updates in the form of new events like our 17th Anniversary, and future BIG content updates like expansions.

It's clear that we have a community of fans and players that want very different things from EverQuest. This ranges from players that are hungry for new raids and max level content, to players that want support for different servers where they can relive their EverQuest memories, or introduce their friends to the game that defined the MMORPG genre.

We'll continue to have new stories to tell, and places for players to explore. New content will be primarily designed for our highest level players on our most established servers. We'll also be experimenting with additional special servers with different rule sets, to see what resonates with our fans. We have players that want to explore and relive EverQuest's history in unique ways and we plan to support servers that provide a home for this community.

16: Is there a preferred method to provide feedback on spells? There seems to be little to no communication (much less action) on issues regarding spells or disciplines.
If something is bugged, the best way to submit this to us is on the forums, or via the Daybreak Community Issue Tracker.

As for general feedback on classes and spells, the best place to provide this feedback is our forums.

15: I would love a new feature that allows a member of the group to force the Cleric Merc to cast a res on a fallen member while in combat or not. Is this something that could be done?
We want players to want to play with other people in-game, and this aspect of mercenary behavior is intentional. The team is happy about the behavior of Cleric mercenaries and when they are choosing to resurrect fallen members of their party. There are no plans to change this aspect.

14: For parsing purposes, is there a chance we could see a spell buff control ability added to the guildhall placeable Combat Dummies? Such as locking/unlocking buff/debuff timers and disciplines. This would make a lot of testing much easier.
We understand that locking/unlocking buff/debuff timers and disciplines would be very useful for testing, but something like this would be pretty time-intensive for our team to build, and we need to focus our resources where they will have the greatest impact for the highest number of players. While this is a neat suggestion, at this time it's unlikely that something like this will be added for player parsing and testing.

13: Is it possible to make old expansions raid currency not no drop?
There are no plans at this time to allow players to trade raid currency from old expansions.

12: When can we see new hotzones, at the least a higher level one?
There isn't anything that we're ready to share regarding new Hot Zones quite yet, but we know that this is something that players are very excited about. The team has been talking A LOT about this internally, and as soon as there's something to share about the future of Hot Zones, we'll certainly let everyone know.

11: Will there be 'chase' loot, ie. raid quality rares, added to TBM (perhaps there is but we haven't seen it)?
There are no plans to add additional chase loot to The Broken Mirror zones at this time.

The following Questions were not submitted to Daybreak, but were answered in the time it took to run the Q&A. We have added their Answers with Daybreak Sources below.

Roshen Answers on Stream: Since it's popped up a few times, there is no announcement for anything like a daybreak live.
If something changes we'll let people know, but right now there's no announcement for anything like that.

Holly also Answers in Chat Replay: No...there aren't any solid plans for a convention this year, but you can feel free to visit us. We give tours! :D

Roshen Answers on Stream: Normally our Expansions release closer to the end of a year. And as we get closer to the Expansion we will have an announcement.
