search results, wasted space?

I'm confused on why there is so much wasted space on a search result.

For example, here is a search result image. Why is there so much space used that is blank, before showing the search results?

Think it's from Googles CSE and the site layout basically clashing with each other, I think I can change how its displayed using a different Layout since that page is mainly just for Searching.


I think I've also found a way to reduce the Ads shown for Premium members on that specific page - which seems to be just 1 (now)? Since it's Google powered they don't allow ads to be turned off completely here :/


I think I've made the page better now though? Let me know if notice it still being bad.
