EQResource Sign Giveaway - Druid Wooden Sign

Since this contest will be the final LED Wooden Sign we will be giving away, and your final chance to order one from our sponsor, we wanted to stick with the theme of things that have been retired or discontinued.  For this contest, we would like for you to tell us of something in EverQuest that has either gone away over the years or completely changed.  Tell us if you are happy about the change, or would love for it to be restored.  Is it an item that's no longer obtainable?  An NPC that was taken away?  A game mechanic, or maybe even an entire zone?  This is a simple post to win contest, so you can post as much or as little as you'd like.  Your odds of winning remain the same regardless of how much or how little you post - but it's more fun if we get all the details!

The Rules -

- Due to us having to pay for physical shipping of rewards, this contest is only open to folks in the U.S. Sorry!
- Your entry should be a reply to the contest thread.
- Write as much or as little as you like.
- Only one entry per person, per contest.
- At the end of the contest all entries will be numbered and a winner will be chosen at random.
- The contest ends on November 24th at 11:59pm Pacific, and a winner will be announced by November 26th.

This contest is sponsored by Timber & Twine!  Be sure to check out their Etsy shop!

Corpse runs )
Has anybody seen my corpse.  Outta food and water -- it was fun - I made a bard back then just to be able track my corpse.
Corpse summoning made it to easy to try completely insane stuff knowing no repercussions.  Back in the day you had to analyze your chances and pick your fights -- not so much anymore since if die just head lobby and summon.

I've not really played EQ for the past year +, which is something I haven't done in a lot of years, as I was playing it almost all the time since late 1999.

A dear friend of mine in game is a Dr00d, and I hope to win this contest in order to send it to her as a surprise gift to commemorate how we met.

Thank you, EQResource, for being one of the best, and often the best, resource of info for EQ over the years! The only other site I use as much is Allakhazam.

Something that went away that I was never happy about on live was the revamping of some classic zones like Nektulos Forest or Commonlands. I just don't care for the newer look to any of the  new versions of these zones. I don't know of anyone whom is. Takes away from the nostalgia. I think it was revamped even on Teek. Just another reason why we went to p99 for a bit.

Druids were always a class i wanted to play but never ever got the chance till personas were introduced i now love my druid !!!

Eico

I really appreciate everything you do.

Except that one thing.

but, its ok. i dont even remember what it was.

One of the things I deeply miss in EverQuest is the original Freeport city layout. It was more than just a place; it was an experience. The old winding streets, the shady back alleys, and the sprawling, chaotic design made it feel alive and unpredictable. It wasn't just a hub—it was a maze of discovery, where every turn held a story, an NPC with a cryptic line, or a hidden nook that only the most curious players would find.

If I had my wish, I'd love to see the old Freeport return as an alternate timeline zone, much like the time-split mechanics we've seen in other expansions. It could be presented as a snapshot of the past—a way for newer players to experience the world as it was, and for veterans to revisit a piece of nostalgia.

While I appreciate the evolution of the game and the effort to modernize it, some things are worth preserving, if only to remind us of how far we've come.

Cajun

No matter how many people tell me "Druids" suck, I will not stop playing mine. I started her in 2000 and still remains my main and I enjoy raiding with her. Playing the underdog and pushing my druid to her limits is fun for me. One thing I would like to see different some day is a new pet for the druids that can actually dps some, lol. I have all these cute clickies, but my bear dies in a matter of seconds. So I passed these clickies on to my enchanter alt.  >:(  ;D

Ginladar

Would love to win that LED sign.  I mained a druid for quite a few years.

Brickhaus

I miss vendor diving.

By the numbers, the "new" (what's it been ... 20+ years since the change?) method does give more slots available on merchant NPCs for goods to be. But there was something about knowing where a specific tradeskill drop might be sold and manipulating the window to see if you could get lucky and have 10!!! of an item appear miraculously.

Honestly, probably spent more time vendor diving in the first years of EQ than I did actually fighting mobs. Had a tinkering friend who also loved to dive and we'd split up the world looking for items for each other.

Sumasi

When I first came back in 2021, I missed the old models - and didn't realize for way too long that you could restore the old models (and that they're actually better when raiding).
